Rockin The Blues On Two Wheels News August Edition
Greetings Music Fans:
Welcome to the August edition of Rockin' The Blues on Two Wheels News. This summer the band and I played the biggest shows to the most music fans ever! I traveled to all four corners of California and performed concerts in Reno and Laughlin, Nevada, too. With a monster five-piece line up of musicians, the band's sound roared from the stage like lions! Wow! What a blast 2010 has been! Still this kind of full-on charge has a cost. We added a second truck to rotate during repairs, the new album's recording sessions have been pushed back and I had to replace my Mesa guitar amplifier due to excessive heat during the shows. We all look back on this summer's tour dates with pride and accomplishment. Family, friends and fans were there at all the shows to be supportive and made every show a huge all-out good time! I love it when the shows turn into a big backyard party!
In this newsletter I have included videos and photos from a show we did in Reno, Nevada. The show was called Rollin' On The River at the Wingfield Amphitheater. Photographer Bill Gavigan captured the show through his camera and he gives you a feel for the fun everyone was having. During the summer dates we were also photographed by JJ Gray, Ed Bonner, Maile Alday and K. Kenny. Their excellent photo work will be presented in future newsletters and on my web site: www.bradwilsonlive.com. The Cali Bee Music YouTube website has added lots more video from our shows.
Looking ahead to the next leg of shows in the month of September, there are some good dates coming up! This weekend, Friday August 27th, we are in Coarsegold for their Concert By The Lake music series. Held near the Yosemite Lakes Park Country Club in a wonderful setting, this is an all ages, free family event. On Saturday, August 28th, we travel to Southern California to play the Blues at the Shoreline Village in Long Beach. We will be near the Marina Harbor outside for a 6 PM show. The sunset here is beautiful, along with that cool Pacific ocean breeze. Then on Sunday, August 29th, we return to the Central California foothills for an afternoon show in Three Rivers at the River View Inn. Located along the Kaweah River near Sequoia National Park, this is an easy going afternoon, popular with Harley riders and folks out for a mellow drive.
Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer and back to the fall season of school, football and the cooler days of autumn. As wineries prepare for the wine harvest, called the "Crush," they celebrate. We are excited to be a part of two Crush events this fall. The first is on Saturday, September 4th, in Sutter Creek at the Sierra Ridge Winery. Featuring a stage overlooking the rolling hills of grape vines and a comfortable lawn picnic seating area, this will be a memorable event. Our second major winery event will take place on Saturday, September 18th, at the Tobin James Winery in Paso Robles. Tobin James wines have become very famous and this will be a large event featuring their wines, food and dancing. If you're planning to attend, get your tickets soon. This show will sell out!
The California coast is amazing! During September, two shows will be in can't-be-missed locations! On Sunday, September 19th, the band will be in Santa Barbara on the famous Highway 154 at the Paradise Store. The Paradise Store features delicious BBQ food and an outside stage made of stone. This historic general store is a California landmark surrounded by beautiful oak trees with an ocean view. We play an early show at 1 PM. We are returning to Marina Del Rey on Sunday, September 26th, for an afternoon at Fisherman's Village. As always, it will be a super fun experience. We had such a good time with all the people relaxing near the sail boats earlier this year, that it is great to be here again.
I want to reach out and say thank you to the people that have helped us on our current tour dates: Performance Guitars in Hollywood for maintaining our Ibenez bass, Fender and Gibson guitars, Mesa Boogie of Hollywood for our amplifiers, and the Los Angeles Blues Society for lots of promotional support.
I am very excited to announce that the famous Hollywood record-making Robb Brothers have returned to producing albums again. Their work has been heard in many hit movies, and on huge radio hits. I love everything we've done together in the past, and I hope to work with them on my new album!
2010 has still got lots of exciting days coming up, however we are making plans for our 2011 summer tour already. With shows that will be even bigger and take in more of the western United States, I am amazed at how much fun music can be! Thank you music fans. I share your love of music, too. Have a great September!
See you further on up the road.....BW

Regarding Brad's “Americana” album, Home:
“Wilson comes across so authentic and genuine on this Western-powered collection that it's hard to imagine he ever played any other type of music. However, his resume tells a different story.”
Oakland Tribune
Regarding Blues Alive:
“A killer blues player who can rock the house all night long…Brad's talent is so fierce and his inspiration so strong, that his music draws in equal measure from classic blues and urban R&B, from alt-country and modern rock, without compromising his integrity or missing a beat…I give this CD my highest rating - Five Stars - excellent CD, thoroughly enjoyed it, highly recommended.”
Blues Underground Network
Regarding Brad Wilson solo record:
“Take just one listen to Brad Wilson's new self-titled CD, and it quickly becomes clear he has been around long enough to absorb a host of blues influences, and that he has fun playing rock and roll…In the old days he would probably have been called a 'road warrior'…And as with so many musicians, Wilson's musical road starts with - and goes back to - his family…Wilson's vocals are soulful in a way that call to mind the likes of Gregg Allman…He's not afraid to delve into arena rock, but unlike many who go there, his songs stay interesting…Check out the minor-key magic of 'Sundown And The Cowboy,' where his soloing matches the soul of his vocal.
Vintage Guitar Magazine
"Listening to Brad's recordings is a treat for anyone who enjoys the blues. His covers show he can riff with the greats and his original songs demonstrate his skill as a storyteller. This is far from all there is to it. It is necessary to experience a live event to fully realize what a great entertainer Brad is. Backed up by an awesome band every set is a polished trip to somewhere that leaves a smile on your face. You can't get this at home. Don't miss out."
